Fwd: 5th Inter-University Taikai – Call for competitors and Shimpan

Dear Club Secretary,

Muken will be hosting the 5th Inter-University Taikai on Saturday 7th of September. This competition is open to ALL currently enrolled university/tertiary students of ANY club. I hope that you can distribute this information to your members and collect their registrations.

The purpose of this taikai is to not only prepare the students going to Uni Nationals in September but also to encourage healthy competitiveness between uni-aged kendoka in Victoria, providing practice not only to shiasha but also young shimpans.

When: Saturday 7th September, 11:30am-4:30pm
Where: Melbourne University Sports Center, West Stadium
Cost: $5 per competitor

*The format of the competition will be similar to that of AUG – divisions separated by gender and kyu/dan grade and consist of both an individual and team division. Further information will be sent out closer to the date, as changes might be made due to time constraints and number of competitors

To register your members (even if they are not from your university):

  • Fill in the attached excel sheet (1 per club)
    Transfer competitor fees to:
    Commonwealth Bank
Acct name: University of Melbourne Kendo Club
    BSB No: 063238
    Acct No: 00903203
  • DUE SUNDAY AUGUST 25TH

Those who would like to volunteer for shimpan duty can register individually here BY 1st September. Shimpans must be shodan and above, and have attended at least one shimpan seminar.

Once again, ANY student of ANY university from ANY club can compete. Competitors will be representing their university instead of club for this taikai.

Kind regards,
Nicky Lieu
President
