Fwd: AKC 2020 Registration and Rules Update

AKC 2020 Update

Thank you to all States and Territories for registering for the 45th Australian Kendo Championships being held in Melbourne, Victoria.

Please note the following updates and reminders regarding the registration process and rules for this year’s AKC.

1. Registration for Competitors in Team Events

If a player intends to compete in a team event, but has not entered an individual competition, they must still register online as an “Official/Coach/Observer”. This is to ensure their details are recorded and Shinai checks can occur etc.

Please use this link: https://vkr.ecwid.com/2020-AKC-Coaches-Officials-Observers-p166785953

Please note that you will need to purchase lunches or dinner separately.

2. Process for Competitor Confirmation and Refunds

Once the Kendo Board confirms the competitor list, the AKC Organising Committee will contact relevant States or Territories regarding any refunds that may be required.

Refunds will be processed by the VKR via the same payment method used at registration.

3. Competition Rules Update

The Kendo Board has made a small update to the rules and regulations for AKC 2020.

The following changes were made:

  • Repeating a pool – since a pool can consist of 4 shiai-shas, this update reduces ambiguity.
    • BEFORE: If all three shiai-shas are equal on wins and points scored, the pool is repeated in full (san bon shobu).
    • AFTER: If all shiai-shas in the pool are equal on wins and points scored, the pool is repeated in full (san bon shobu).
  • Encho duration – clarified that the duration for encho in the Individual categories has no time limit.
    • BEFORE: Shiais after preliminary rounds will progress on a knock-out basis. Encho is applied to these shiais.
    • AFTER: Shiais after preliminary rounds will progress on a knock-out basis. In the case of a draw, encho is applied to these shiais with no time limit.
  • Previously both figures at the end were referred to as Figure 1. This has been corrected.
  • Minor page formatting adjustments for better readability.

The updated rules and regulations in full (v1.1), as well as Page 3 on its own with the significant changes highlighted, are attached.

4. Regulations for Nafuda (Zekken) to be worn in (AKR) Competition

All States and Territories are reminded to ensure all competitors are aware of the current regulations regarding Nafuda.

FILE – VKR 2020 Kendo Seminar-Program-v2.01 (pdf)

Hi all,

Below is some information regarding the seminar that will replace the Nittaidai seminar.

Thanks,
Samuel

———- Forwarded message ———

Dear all,

Attached is the program of the VKR Seminar on 29th Feb – 1st March.

Late Registration and refund request will close on 20th 5:00pm for logistics and catering preparation.

VKR runs seminars with the objective to support the growth of our community. The seminar fee was set taking into consideration expenses for international visitors. In the past few years, we have been operating at a loss, a cost we willingly bear to support our community. Due to the extra-ordinary circumstances this year, we may have a surplus. Any significant surpluses will be refunded to participants equally.

On behalf of the organising committee, we look forward to crossing swords with you at the seminar.

Sincerely,
Cyntheia Lim

  2. If all three approve, please reply to this email with your full name and current grade and send proof of payment (See fee schedule attached) by Friday, 28 February 2020. The registration fee portion will be refunded to you if your grading is unsuccessful, though this is VERY unlikely for kyu grades)

If you have any questions, please let me know.

    iii. medium
  b. International Travels
  c. Countries can change entry/exit/quarantine periods with days of notice
