Weekly MUKC update – Final update of the year!

Update —

Hi all,

We want to emphasize that wearing a full face shield + face mask is recommended. If you are struggling to breathe, you can choose to wear a full face shield without a face mask OR a half face shield with a face mask.

Regarding degeiko, you should check on how to apply for written approval from the club you wish to visit. You must ask sensei if you wish to degeiko as well. After sensei approves, you can let the committee know and we will provide a written approval.

Thanks,
Samuel

Monash University Kendo Club

Final training date

The final training of 2020 will be today, the 21st of December. Don’t accidentally show up on the 23rd, there’ll be no one there! Training will resume again on the 4th of January onwards.

Phase 2 of the RTP!

After discussing with sensei, the club will be moving to phase 2 of the RTP! Please read the RTP to ensure you are aware of what can/cannot be done.
Some things to note:

  • When wearing Men, you are allowed to wear a face shield WITHOUT a mask OR wear a half face shield WITH a mask.
  • Degeiko is allowed only if you obtain written permission from both clubs.

Returning to physical training

Our current training times are:

  • Monday: 6pm – 8pm
  • Wednesday: 6pm – 7pm
  • Saturday: 9:30am – 11am

You will be required to scan a QR code to enter Monash Sport and another QR code to join training so please bring a phone. You will also be required to wear a face mask/face shield at all times whilst training unless you have appropriate reasoning (as listed in RTP).

Please come exactly on time so we can minimize the amount of time spent loitering in the building. We will begin signing people in at the start of the training time in front of the Games Hall. If you come early, you can wait at the barbeque area just outside Monash Sport, as opposed to standing at the hallway to the Games Hall.

Please read through the RTP and COVID Risk control documents (attached) before attending to make the sign in/out process as smooth as possible!

P.S. If possible, come fully dressed in your bogu so we can maximize training time! Especially on Wednesday.
